Townsend Letter, the Examiner of Alternative Medicine
Townsend Letter for Doctors & Patients
Townsend Letter for Doctors
Townsend Letter. For all.

Published in print format from 1983 to 2023, the TL is an online-only, subscription-free source of information for our readers. Over the past four decades, we published hundreds of issues, printing tens of thousands of pages, and thousands of articles, read and written by researchers, health practitioners and patients. Our readers do not always agree with what we publish, but nothing is published if it’s not worthy of publication, and that quality remains the same – our goal is to keep ‘medical alternatives’ available, and that will not change. Our e-Letter goes out weekly, sharing new and relevant articles, and content which can only be found in the Townsend Letter.

One thing our readers have consistently requested is free access to the articles which can help us all improve our health, and keep us aware of important information on topics such as the push to eliminate compounded hormones, and B vitamins, and more. Vitamin C has been tested, but not in any large studies led without major flaws, while for decades, ‘alternative’ treatments of this type have often been found helpful, in real life, but continue to be belittled and dismissed, in favor of so-called real medicine. We hear about how ‘dangerous’ alternative and traditional medicine practices are, but in general, there are no numbers to back up these claims; fortunately, after decades, and many years of being shown to help countless people, chelation therapy is being taken more seriously, but far too many people, and agencies, do not wish it to be an option. Access to bioidentical hormones, and other traditional, and ancient, wholistic healing practices are also threatened, most without good reason. The Townsend Letter supports medical freedom, and we need your support to do it.

The Townsend Letter was founded by Jonathan Collin, M.D., who still runs it from the same home office in Port Townsend, Washington, where it was launched in 1983, as a way for people to share ideas and information, and where he still ‘doctors‘ patients on a regular basis. This arrangement has allowed him to have a real-life perspective, and helpful insight, as he interacts with patients, getting feedback from their experiences, as well. Our readers do not always agree with, or like what we publish, but it’s not published if it’s not worthy of publication, and that quality remains the same, whether the format for the information is imprinting on processed trees, scrolling on a screen, or any other platform that comes along.
