Recent Progress in Clinical Applications and Research in Fibromyalgia
by Robert W. Bradford, DSc, NMD, and Henry W. Allen
This excerpt from a more comprehensive article (available on www.townsendletter.com) presents an overview of fibromyalgia symptoms and causes, a consideration of the role infectious microorganisms play in the illness, and a clinical outcomes study.
Online publication only: Read the complete mongraph.

An Elimination Diet for Fibromyalgia
by Chuck Bates, PhD
In a follow-up to his article detailing an intensive elimination diet, Dr. Chuck Bates returns to offer further consideration of the diet’s value in treating fibromyalgia. He also presents a straightforward look at the success of this and other fibromyalgia treatments for patients in varying circumstances.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Autism
by Richard A. Van Konynenburg, PhD
The depletion of glutathione has been indicated in both chronic fatigue syndrome and autism, a connection that sparked the author’s interest. Further study suggests CFS patients might benefit greatly from learning more about nutritional approaches to the treatment of autism.

The Role of the Brain and Mast Cells in MCS
by Gunnar Heuser, MD, PhD, FACP
Because no objective evidence exists for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), patients with MCS suffer from more than the symptoms of that illness. Often, they are also subjected to skepticism and dismissal or offered only a referral for psychological treatment. A three-pronged approach to testing could change the response to MCS, causing more doctors to view the illness as physiological, thus widening the scope of treatment.

Urinary Neurotransmitter Testing: Problems and Alternatives
by Julia Ross, MA, MFT
Based on her own clinical practice and reports from other clinics, this author concludes that urine testing for neurotransmitter levels is often off-base, leading to incorrect assumptions regarding amino acid formulations and, consequently, unsatisfactory treatment. She surveys the problems she sees with urinary neurotransmitter testing and offers viable solutions.

Guided Digital Medicine: Non-Disease Treatment of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndromes
by Savely Yurkovsky, MD

A wide-ranging discourse questions established conventional and alternative treatments, including long-term or dedicated use of supplementation, and suggests a more broad-based, energy-aware approach to medical treatment, one guided by bio-resonance testing and homeopathy.
