The Townsend Letter is proud to announce the appointment of Lauren Brown as editor. Lauren replaces Adrianne Harun, who has edited the Townsend Letter, for the past three years. Lauren worked formerly as a copyeditor for the Boston Globe and a regional Massachusetts newspaper, as well as for the MIT Press. Relocating with her family to the Pacific Northwest, Brown is excited about taking on editorial duties for the Townsend Letter beginning with the February/March issue focusing on the "Best of Naturopathic Medicine." Lauren enjoys teaching and practicing yoga and lives in Port Townsend with her husband, Jamie, and son, Jacob.

Adrianne Harun is resigning to pursue her primary interest as a fiction writer and writing professor. During her term as editor, Harun converted the paper editing process into electronic editing. Most of the writing in the Townsend Letter is submitted in Word format and edited uniformly according to AMA style guidelines (see author guidelines). Adrianne's editing did detect two instances when authors submitted plagiarized work – an improbable event before the Internet search engines offered the capability of searching for text authorship. We thank Adrianne for her dedicated service and wish her the best!
